Biography: Rixiang Huang

Rixiang Huang was born in China, and started his musical studies at the age of seven. At the age of 13, he entered the middle school attached to the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. His former teachers include Jin Zhang, Aipin Jin and Yameng Huang.

As an avid performer, Rixiang Huang has appeared in all of the famous concert halls in China, such as the National Center for the Performing Arts,the Beijing Concert Hall, and the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing. He has also appeared as a soloist in various venues throughout Asia, Europe and the United States. In addition, Mr. Huang has performed with the China National Symphony Orchestra and the Indonesia National Symphony Orchestra.

In 2010 Rixiang Huang was invited to many master classes/festivals throughout the world. He was also invited to the International Piano Festival at Madrid, Spain to study with Dr. Mikowsky. In 2012, John Perry chose him for the KAWAI International Piano master class. In 2014, he was selected for Pianofest in the Hamptons as one of only 12 pianists in the world. Mr. Huang also participated in master classes with Joseph Banowitz, Jerome Lowenthal, Kirill Gerstein and Choong Mo Kang and Andrea Bonatta.

Mr. Huang has been a worldwide prizewinner in numerous competitions including Third prize in the 2009 Schumann International Piano Competition (Asia/Pacific) for Young Pianists, Third prize in the 56th Grotrian-Steinweg International Piano Competition for Young Pianists held in Germany, First prize in the First Asian Classical Music Competition in 2010, and Second prize in the Fifth ASEAN International Concerto Competition (AAF). Recently, he won Second prize in CCCCA International Piano Competition in the United States.

Rixiang Huang is currently a sophomore at the Cleveland Institute of Music and is pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree with a focus in piano performance. He is under the tutelage of world renowned pianists Antonio Pompa-Baldi and Paul Schenly.
