Biography: Kristin Baird


Kristin Baird received her Bachelor’s in Violin Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with Paul Kantor and Joan Kwuon. She then continued her education at CIM receiving her Master’s in Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy with Joan Kwuon and completing her Suzuki training with Kimberly Meier-Sims. She is currently pursuing a Professional Studies Diploma  at CIM under the tutelage of William Preucil.

Kristin has participated in many chamber and orchestra music festivals including the ENCORE School for Strings, Yellow Barn Young Artist Program, Aspen Music Festival, Round Top Music Festival, the National Repertory Orchestra and the National Orchestral Institute. She currently plays with the Canton, Akron and Firelands Symphonies as well as the Cleveland Pops. Kristin currently teaches at the Oberlin Community Music School where she maintains a private violin studio.

 Kristin began violin at age 6 with the help of her parents, both who teach music as well. Originally from Virginia Beach, she enjoys the outdoors, surfing and horseback riding.
