Avery Waite began studying cello at the age of nine. Originally from California, his principal teachers have included Neal Cary, Amir Eldan and Darrett Adkins. He is the recipient of many awards and scholarships including the Mu Phi Epsilon Scholarship, the Sacramento Symphony League Scholarship and the McCrory Foundation String Scholarship. His awards include Honorable Mention in the Richmond Symphony Concerto Competition, finalist in the National Symphony Orchestra Institute Concerto Competition, and 1st place in the Bland Music Competition. He has had master classes with Matt Haimovitz, Zuill Bailey, Bion Tsang and members of Miami, Ying and Takacs String Quartets. Mr. Waite is in his senior year at Oberlin Conservatory.
