Biography: Anjin Stewart-Funai

Anjin Stewart-FunaiAnjin Stewart-Funai, soprano, holds her Masters of Music and Professional Studies degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied under Mary Schiller and Vinson Cole. Her roles on the operatic stage include Gretel (Hansel und Gretel), Sandrina (La finta giardiniera), Romilda (Serse), Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Der Komponist (Ariadne aufNaxos), Violetta (La Traviata), Partenope (Partenope), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), and Captain Lovelock (Captain Lovelock), among others. While at CIM, she was awarded the prestigious Boris Goldovsky award in Opera, and the Pauline Thesmacher Award for Vocal Technique, and she was featured soloist for the commencement ceremony in which Van Cliburn was awarded a doctorate. Anjin sings with the St. John’s Cathedral choir, the Cleveland Orchestra Opera Chorus, and she is a former member of the Opera Western Reserve Young Artist Program.  She is currently on the voice faculty of both the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Aurora School of Music.
